Even with such great tools like WordPress to setup a website and optimize it in the richt way, you can still go wrong...
If you use an application to check your rankings other than Google Analytics you could loose your rankings overnicht if you are checking it to much.
Running such an Automated check is a violation of Google's terms of Service...
But was it this automated checking tool, or the building of more links via directory pages?
Since the site went down the same way of an other one that did not use the directories, I believe its the overuse of one piece of software.
Is it the fault of the software? NO, it is the wrogn way you use it and how many times you use it.
Don't do multiple ranking checks in one week, use if for a maximum times of once a month.
How to undo this penalty? I guess I need to give it a rest an see what comes up a month from now.
